He looses in that he himself is cast back in time instead, and without Kurama. Two hundred years later, Naruto squares off against a man who seeks to turn back time to claim the Juubi.

Synopsis: In one timeline, Madara hunted down and enslaved the Kyuubi no Kitsune to his will, and wielded him against Hashirama.Recommended by: This Ridiculous, Robinton.An interesting change of pace considering most self-inserts make the OC nigh omnipotent in terms of how events run, so it is quite rare to see a story take the plunge and have things occurring outside of the main characters, and by extension the readers, point of view. This fic is also unique due to the fact that it has a companion story that is from Obito's perspective of events, revealing that not only is the story a self-insert, but a Peggy Sue fic as well, though the OC herself is unaware of this fact. Comments: A self-insert fic that really delves into the insecurities and possible mental instability of someone shoved into a world they once thought was fictional.Notes: Has a companion story, Cheating Fate.

My name is Kasa, the idiot who doesn't know how to die properly. Those who fear death have never truly lived, but I'm getting a little ahead of myself. Though, I suppose the same could be said for the reverse.

Synopsis: Whoever said death is nothing to be afraid of have likely lived a full life.

Asides from that, the story is practical but entertaining and is well thought-out at some points. To say the least, it's rare to find someone who liked the chosen ending. However, due to people constantly criticizing the author and comparing the story to ripping off Team 8, another NaruHina fanfic, the author posted one final chapter that was more of a plot outline to end the story. This story was somewhat of a guilty pleasure for me mainly for the fact that Hinata turns into a cliche eventually but the interesting AU made me finish the story.

Comments: I second this recommendation but with mixed feelings.

Synopsis: As its name suggests, its a What If? fic in which Hinata is the Kyuubi jinchuriki and both of Naruto's parents are alive and well, with the two of them ending up in the same squad under Kurenai.
